Faraday Tower (Engineering Building)

University of Southampton

The 10-storey tower was the iconic building of the new university designed by Sir Basil Spence in the 1960s. The purpose of the project is to remodel it to produce excellent workspace for research groups in a low-energy 21st century building. The stairs will be moved to the outside of the tower and the whole building will be re-clad incorporating enhanced natural ventilation, solar shading and photovoltaic cells.
