In the third and final of Nicholas Hare Architects' 2012 Autumn series of panel discussions we aim to examine why school refurbishment projects so often become new-builds.

As embodied energy becomes an increasingly important factor in buildings, the panel will investigate who should determine what eco-balance is appropriate. Demolition is often seen as the easy option for contractors (or designers) that don't want the hassle of complex and higher risk works.
