Nicholas Hare Architects LLP, together with Balfour Beatty, has been appointed preferred bidder for Derby City Councils £231m Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme. This will be Derbys biggest ever school building investment programme. Nicholas Hare Architects were the project architects for the new build sample school which rebuilds Noel-Baker Community School and Language College and co-locates St Martins School on the Noel-Baker site. The project also involves a separate sports and vocational centre which will be open to the local community. At the same time, Nicholas Hare Architects developed designs for Lees Brook Community Sports College. The school and existing sports centre will be rebuilt to the same timetable as the sample schools. Both schools are scheduled to open for the new academic year in September 2012.
