A special topping out ceremony was held on the 12th June to mark the latest progress on the new Nicholas Hare Architects-designed Kettering Buccleuch Academy. The building is now water-tight and the roof has been completed which means work can begin on fitting the building out with the very latest facilities, which includes a theatre, sports pavilion, all-weather pitch, state-of-the-art science laboratories, media suites, music rooms, arts studios - all within an ICT rich environment.

Nicholas Hare Architects attended the ceremony with contractors Willmott Dixon and representatives from the United Learning Trust (ULT), which sponsors the academy, Northamptonshire County Council and Kettering Borough Council. Students move into their new Academy building in October 2012.

Principal Dawn Cotter said:
"We are enormously privileged and thrilled to welcome our guests to Kettering Buccleuch Academy today. This is a very special occasion for everyone who is working so hard to make our magnificent building a reality. The students can't wait to move into the new building in October and to start using all the fantastic facilities."
