The Purcell School Masterplan

The Purcell School provides an outstanding academic and musical education for gifted young musicians who aspire to a professional career in music.

Critical to their success is the ability to develop the emotional and physical stamina to sustain their future careers and this requires a focus on physical fitness and well-being.

Our design for The Space, a multi-purpose facility providing rehearsal, practice, drama and exercise space, will take advantage of the beautiful setting of the School and create a sense of calm and well-being through its visual connections with the landscape.

Working with Nicholas Hare Architects we have developed the concept of The Space, a light and airy building…that will give our pupils the ideal environment to develop their full potential

Masterplan

The brief for The Space was developed as part of a thorough review of the School’s existing buildings.

A key aim of the masterplan is to restore the setting of the original, locally listed main building by recreating two courtyards within the centre of the School.

The masterplan has also been developed to minimise impact on the green belt whilst meeting the School’s new development strategy.
