Nicholas Hare Architects' Environment Group has published the latest edition of our in-house newsletter. This publication aims to keep everyone in the practice up to date with all things environmental. It captures recent project news as well as external and internal talks and events, such as our World Green Building Week debate and the upcoming Green Sky Thinking Week event in May. This issue also provides an in-depth look at our recently completed Christies Care office building which, although not Passivhaus Certified, targeted a DEC A rating by applying its principles to an office building which uses CLT construction.

The Environment Group is responsible for maintaining up to date knowledge of environmental design research and practice and disseminating it across our project teams, particularly through Environmental Reviews. Our awareness as a practice is supported by our in-house Green Team, responsible for monitoring and auditing our office carbon footprint and waste streams on an annual basis with a target of year-on-year improvement. The Green Team initiated our carbon off-setting support for the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve scheme in Borneo which halted deforestation for palm oil plantations and helps to protect the local orangutang and their ecosystem.
